What you can analyze from Dropbox

Sreniq treats your Dropbox CSV, XLSX, or JSON files as a normalised tabular dataset and lets you ask questions in plain English. Typical sources our customers connect from Dropbox:

  • monthly finance exports stored in Dropbox folders
  • ops spreadsheets shared across the team
  • scraped CSVs and JSON dumps used by analysts
  • XLSX workbooks with embedded sheets
  • any tabular file your team drops into a shared folder

How to connect Dropbox to Sreniq

Sreniq uses Dropbox's standard OAuth flow — read-only scopes, no write access, and tokens stored encrypted server-side. Set up takes about a minute.

  1. Click 'Connect Dropbox'

Sreniq opens Dropbox's OAuth authorization page in a new window. Sign in to the account whose files you want to analyze.

  2. Approve read scopes

Sreniq requests files.metadata.read and files.content.read only — read-only. No write or delete permissions are requested.

  3. Pick a CSV / XLSX / JSON file

Sreniq lists supported files in your Dropbox. Pick one and Sreniq downloads it through SafeFetch (capped at 25 MB) and parses CSV with RFC 4180, XLSX with SheetJS, JSON natively.

  4. Chat with the file

Once parsed, ask Sreniq for charts, tables, breakdowns, anomalies — the same chat-driven analysis the rest of Sreniq is built around.

Example questions you can ask

Once your Dropbox data is in Sreniq, you chat with it. Sreniq generates the right chart, table, or narrative for each question — you do not need to pick a visualisation first.

  • Build a P&L dashboard from this XLSX export.
  • Show me month-over-month trends from the operations CSV.
  • Compare the JSON event log by category and surface anomalies.
  • Visualise revenue by product family from this finance file.
  • Plot the weekly headcount trend from the HR spreadsheet.

What you get

  • Auto-generated charts (line, bar, area, donut, table) sized for the question you asked
  • AI-written narrative — what the data says, not just how it looks
  • Key takeaways pulled out as headline insights
  • A public, shareable link you can send to teammates or embed
  • Light + dark themes and mobile-responsive output by default
  • All data stays in your session — Sreniq does not retain raw rows

Privacy and permissions

OAuth scopes requested: files.metadata.read and files.content.read. Both are read-only — Sreniq cannot modify, move, or delete anything in your Dropbox. Tokens are stored encrypted server-side for the session. Every upstream call goes through Sreniq's SafeFetch helper, which enforces a strict host allowlist, hard size caps, and per-hop redirect re-validation to defeat SSRF and redirect-rebind attacks. Sreniq does not sell or share your data with third parties.

Frequently asked questions

How fresh is the data?
Each import downloads the file live from Dropbox. There is no background polling or scheduled sync.
Which file types are supported?
CSV (RFC 4180), XLSX (multi-sheet — pick a sheet on import), and JSON (arrays of objects or NDJSON).
What's the size limit?
Each file is capped at 25 MB on download. For larger files, split or pre-aggregate before uploading to Dropbox.
Is the integration safe?
All upstream calls go through SafeFetch with a .dropboxapi.com / .dropbox.com host allowlist, 5 MB caps on metadata, 25 MB on file content, and a 30 s timeout to abort runaway downloads.
